Tailgating at the Dave Matthews concert

Anyone who knows Connecticut, especially Hartford knows what a big deal it is when the Dave Matthews Band comes to town. Personally I never saw the reason why people would go so nuts for this band that they would actually riot in the streets, especially being no other market in the U.S. of A. ever had riots for/after Dave Matthews that I'm aware of but, the youth of CT and the surrounding drivable distances love them some DMB.

I had a chance to experience my first actual CT right of passage a couple weeks ago when I attended the DMB Tailgate (that's right, it's such a big deal that it gets capitalized). Apparently about 90% of the people we met either a) didn't have tickets and were there to just get drunk or b) had tickets but won't remember the show anyway because they were so drunk. We did meet some pretty cool people though (and not all of them were drunk). Here's some photos we took of me and some DMB fans:

I was very thankful I found this guy because for a red hot second I lost my friends. He was very tall and very helpful. (Do you have any idea how frightening it is to be a disembodied head in a large crowd of strangers!)

I don't remember playing baseball at all, but the girl on the right kept telling me I was "safe". Who am I to argue with pretty girls.

I loved hanging out with these guys in that big comfy chair. It was very relaxing even with all the craziness going on around us...then I noticed the bottle to the left looked like it was someones pee bottle so I politely excused myself...

That's right, we actually found a group of cats hanging out in an old VW bus. They invited me to go camping with them after the show but said something about a 'border run' and got really nervous...so I again politely excused myself...

The guy on the left is one of our MC/Street team people. His name is Dragan. Do you like his yellow sweater? Despite the fact that it was 100 degrees out he wore a bright yellow sweater. That's really all I have to say about that. The guy on the right was awesome. He actually started break dancing in the street. Don't believe me? Check out the video of it here.

We found these guys in a bush. They were just sitting there in a bush. They said it had something to do with the anniversary of falling into a different bush and the dude in the bush seemed really, really happy to be there. (Perhaps he lives in a metaphorical world?) I couldn't be completely sure but it was probably some sort of alcohol in those red cups. I'm just wagering a guess.

Needless to say we had a blast. If you want to check out the full gallery of photos from my trip to the DMB Tailgating madness click here.

Keep checking back because I plan on hitting up even more fun places in the coming months and you never know when you'll be 'Seen on the Scene'...or in this case slightly made fun of by a disembodied head! Cheers!

Chet
